experimenting with shading…
laid back hamster
contextual ham
micro hamster with scale reference.
nano hamster.
i believe i have found a better way of treating the scans so the drawings have a bit more contrast while maintaining paper detail. i was worried that i would not be able to adjust all the hamsters consistently, but i think i am closer now. perhaps i will make a special ‘hamster action’ for photoshop!
my smallest hamster drawing ever, about 1/2 inch.
baby hamster
more detail than usual and i feel quite a bit better than a recent similarly positioned ham. too many whiskers though. kinda messy. the mouths are still hard to draw without two lines.
i enjoyed what i felt to be quite a bit of advancement today in the way i think about drawing. this is my last drawing and in a way my favorite. there is actually a lot of facial definition to be gained by careful whisker follicle placement. i didn’t notice it before and always felt my whiskers looked kind of odd and pell mell.
the way the eyes and ears line up in addition to the whisker placement i feel as though the shape of this hamster’s head is very well defined even though it is mostly suggested. the most complete image with the least amount of lines.
at least that is what i hope i have done here. i also wanted to draw an ominous hamster.
